Ferro Silicon
Our atomized ferrosilicon — developed for welding consumables, where storage stability decides everything.
Ferrosilicon is an essential alloy of iron and silicon and one of the most widely used deoxidisers in steel making and welding. In welding consumables, though, conventionally crushed ferrosilicon has a well known problem: it disintegrates in storage and picks up moisture and hydrogen, which shows up later as porosity and hydrogen cracking in the weld.
We build the whole range by atomization — formed directly from the melt rather than crushed and then surface-treated. There is no fractured surface for moisture to attack, so the problem is answered at source rather than managed afterwards.
Our atomized ferrosilicon holds its particle size in storage and keeps hydrogen out of the deposit, which is why it has become one of the materials we are best known for. It is approved by the Bureau of Indian Standards. We no longer supply stabilized ferrosilicon; the atomized route replaced it.

Standard grades
The grades below are the standard specifications this material is traded to. We supply against your specification — tell us the grade and we will confirm what we can hold.
| Grade | Si | Al | C | S | P | Mn | Fe |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| FeSi 45 | 43.00–47.00 | 1.00 max | 0.10 max | 0.03 max | 0.04 max | 0.50 max | Balance |
| FeSi 50 | 46.00–50.00 | 1.00 max | 0.15 max | 0.03 max | 0.04 max | 0.50 max | Balance |
| FeSi 70 | 68.00–72.00 | 1.50 max | 0.20 max | 0.03 max | 0.04 max | 0.50 max | Balance |
| FeSi 75 | 74.00–76.00 | 1.50 max | 0.20 max | 0.03 max | 0.04 max | 0.50 max | Balance |

Titanium is typically held to 0.20% max on FeSi 45 and 0.15% max on FeSi 50. The whole range is atomized — we no longer supply stabilized or unstabilized crushed ferrosilicon.
Please note. These are indicative industry-standard ranges shown for guidance. Where a grade name encodes a nominal sieve or density, that is what the designation means in the trade — the size range actually supplied, and the packing, are set to your requirement and confirmed on your order. The binding specification for any order is the one on your purchase order and the test certificate supplied with the consignment — see how we test and certify a lot. Ask us for a datasheet for the exact grade you need.
