Calcined Petroleum Coke
A low-ash, high-carbon material used as a recarburiser and in flux formulations.
Calcined petroleum coke is petroleum coke that has been heat treated to drive off volatiles, leaving a high fixed carbon content with low ash and low volatile matter. That purity is what makes it a preferred recarburiser where the ash from cheaper carbon sources would be a problem.
It dissolves predictably, which matters when carbon has to be brought to a tight specification.
